Not to be confused with Player + Bot, or Infection + Bot. |
Bot is a game mechanic and a gamemode in Piggy. Bots will generally directly follow survivors and attempt to kill them.
Mechanic[]
Primary Bot[]
One of these can appear if Bot, Player + Bot, Swarm, Survivor, or Traitor are selected, where they take the role of a Piggy and attempt to capture all survivors. This bot always knows where the players are and will always follow the closest player. Only one will appear per round and spawns after 30 seconds, appearing the text 'Piggy has woken up!' to alert Players that the bot has spawned. The bot will also appear if the infected player leaves the game (this also happens in Infection). They can also be equipped with different skins in chapters, with the skin varying on what map is voted (ever since the Chapter 5 update). In Piggy but it's 100 Players, 10 bots will spawn if Bot or Traitor mode is picked, and 9 bots will spawn for Player + Bot mode (the tenth being the player). This was later changed to regular Player + Bot.
This type of Bot appears in all of Book 1 and the first four chapters of Book 2, as well as Distorted Memory, Winter Holiday, RB Battles Studio, RB Battles Spaceship and sketch’s home.
Patrol Bot[]
When Sewers - Chapter 5 came out, the bot, Alfis, was given a unique mechanic where it wouldn't go after players immediately, but rather look for them. Once the player is spotted by the patrolling bot, it will make a metallic-like sound, gain speed and, break the patrolling path and starts playing the bot theme (depending on the bot's skin). This bot type is the only type which can place traps in specific areas of a map, such as near doors or key hallways. All primary bots from Sewers until Lab - Chapter 12 will have the mentioned AI, although the bots from Docks, Lab, and Breakout (Markus, Piggy (Distorted), and Ombra) can teleport, and the bots from Temple and Camp (Spidella and Delta) can place different types of traps (Slow Traps and Big Traps), they still follow the same AI.
This type of bot appears in every chapter that follows Sewers, as well as Heist and Distraction.
This mechanic is used in the Breakout chapter as well, but with a few alterations. Ombra does not place traps and will only have its theme activated once you look at it as it’s chasing you. Whenever Ombra loses track of a player, it will crawl into the ground and appear on the ceiling in a random room. Whenever enough time passes or a player walks near it, it will jump down from the ceiling and start patrolling again. Additionally, the bot's field of view is no longer 360, meaning it cannot spot players who are behind it.
This patrol mechanic is also used on Mansion's Duocara with a few extra mechanics. It will not place traps, is much faster than the usual bot and switches faces, changing the intended counter play against it. When its face is red, you must look away from it to briefly stun it. When its face is blue, you must look at it to briefly freeze it. If it’s in the process of switching faces, no special action is needed and it goes at normal bot speed.
This mechanic is used in the Metallica x Piggy Event with a few differences. Eelektra will not place traps and can be distracted by bringing a Battery to a boombox; however, this will make Eelektra enter her rage state, making her go faster for a short time.
In Time, Gryffyn is also a patrol bot, but he does not place traps. The two bots for the event’s second phase, like Gryffyn, are patrol bots that don’t place traps. However, they have very unique mechanics. Blatt is able to kill players, but has no line of sight and is set to a path. Scry isn't able to kill players, but will scream when a player is in its line of sight, which alerts Blatt who will pursue the player until they die or are far away enough.
Secondary Bot[]
These bots are not dependent on the gamemode and will appear when the round starts. They tend to have unique behaviours: Some have a fixed route, others notify where a Player is at, and a few follow a random route. Some work like the regular primary bot but slower, some spawn multiple times from ground holes, some stun you, some have a different walking path, some only follow you if you walk near or in front of them but will calm down after a while, and some use the advanced pathing AI and stun you. Note that they can also be shot by the gun, except Mr. P and Willow. If you shoot The Prototype with the gun, it drops a chip.
This type of Bot appears in Forest, Carnival, City, Mall, Outpost, Plant, Refinery, Factory, Ship, Camp, Distraction, Lab, and Breakout.
Secondary Bots also appear in Forest, Mall, Plant, Alleys, Port, Docks and Lab through events and quests.

Tips[]
General[]
- It is recommended to close doors in front of the bot as many times as possible to distance yourself, since bots take 2 seconds to open doors.
- Use vents if there's any around. This will help you get distance from the bot.
Chapter-Specific[]
- In Station - Chapter 2, you can make Mother go away from you by letting her chase you (relatively far away) across the acid river from where you are. This will make her backtrack around the map to get to you.
Trivia[]
- Some chapters have unique spawn messages for bots, with those being Breakout and the Metallica x Piggy Event, where it won't say anything, sketch's home where it will say "alright which one of you kids woke up sketch?", RB Battles Studio where it will say 'The hosts have appeared!', RB Battles Spaceship where it will say 'The hosts have appeared... again!', and Time, where it will say "The guardian has arrived."
- In the older versions of Piggy, if an infected player left, no bot would spawn and the round would end.
- Some bots have ways to differentiate them from their skin counterparts.
- The Piggy, Mother, Father, Sheepy, Teacher, Grandmother, Frostiggy, and The Prototype bots use different walk, idle and jumpscare animations.
- The Alfis skin's theme is slowed down and lowered pitch while the bot has the normal theme.
- The Grandmother and Gryffyn bots are slower than normal Piggy speed.
- The Blatt bot doesn't have a theme and can't chase players unless they are spotted by Scry.
- The Markus, Piggy (Distorted), and Ombra bots can teleport.
- The ??? bot uses a different walking animation before spotting players and is also as fast as players.
- The Mr. P and Willow bots can shoot players, stunning them.
- The Rash, Tigry, Willow, Poley, Sentinel, and Gryffyn bots have different appearances than their skin counterparts, with the first four being uninfected, Poley using different a different weapon and animations as well as a larger hat, The Sentinel bots being a set color while the skin rotates through a set amount of colors, and Gryffyn using 2022 textures doesn't change colors after killing, while the skin that uses 2020 textures does change colors.
- The Soldier and Mr. P skins have themes and footsteps while their bot counterparts don't.
- The Spidella, Delta, Piggy (Distorted), Sentinel, and Twins skins are smaller than their bot counterparts.
- The Eelektra bot can be distracted and will turn angry after being distracted.
- The Duocara bot changes faces after a set amount of time and is faster than survivors while the skin counterpart's face changes are purely cosmetic (after a kill), and do not increase speed.
- When a bot meets a door, it will take 2 seconds to open it.
- It will "shake" the door knob at first, and then open it.
- Bots will pass through doors, unlike survivors and player infected. This is due to the way pathfinding works.
- A glitch effected nearly every bot and NPC in every chapter in Book 2 (Except Duocara in Mansion, Pony in Docks, and Robby in Temple) even if they were a Book 1 bot spawned in through the swarm gamemode. This was claimed to have been fixed on July 4th, 2023, but wasn't and was actually fixed on April 15th, 2024.
- Bots will usually follow the closest Player and have full attention on them. This can get them stuck in certain places, and Players can use this to their advantage, especially in maps with two or more bots.
- However, Players are generally smarter than bots and therefore usually cannot be tricked by this.
- Before the School update, Little Brother was the bot for all chapters.
- Even after the School update and the redesigns, Little Brother is still in the icons for Bot, Player + Bot, and Infection. This is likely to pay homage to him.
- There is a current bug where the bots go upside-down when they spawn, after getting stunned, or killing a Player. This only lasts a few seconds, as they then flip right back up and continue to move on.
- Raze often has this happen to him if he runs into an object, but he often won't be able to get up.
- This is due to the head not having its Massless property being checked, therefore making the head heavier than the body.
- This, Traitor, Swarm, and Tag are the only modes where a player can't be selected as Piggy.
- Sometimes when you crouch and move, a following bot will slow down and not be able to capture you. This does not apply to Player Piggies.
- Sometimes in Book 2 chapters, bots cannot catch you if you are caught in a trap.
- The only main bots that appear in one of the cutscene of their own chapter are Father, Badgy, Rash. and ???, which are in Gallery, Plant, Alleys, and Lab respectively (Badgy and ??? only appearing in a certain ending of their respective chapter).
- In Sketchy, this mode is named "bot bot bot bot bot".
- RB Battles Studio, RB Battles Spaceship, and Time are the only maps with multiple primary bots.
- Breakout is the only chapter that isn't in its own menu and has the gamemode locked on bot.
- There was a bug where a bot was still able to move after they killed someone and being stunned at the same time. This is likely due to the HumanoidRootPart being Anchored by one script and being Unanchored by another.
- This could be done by attacking the bot (via gun, crossbow or with help from friendly NPCs) while they're attacking a player.
- This has been fixed, but can be done again in build mode by doing this when the bot is in either a speed or slow block.
- This is also the case for an infected player.
- This has been fixed, but can be done again in build mode by doing this when the bot is in either a speed or slow block.
- This could be done by attacking the bot (via gun, crossbow or with help from friendly NPCs) while they're attacking a player.
- There is another bug that can happen in Build Mode, that you can see the bot in Spectator Mode, this shows the bot named as N/A.
- This is now a feature, however the bot will be named NPC.
- This can happen with any aggressive Build Mode NPC after you get killed by them.
- Almost all bots from Chapter 5 (Sewers) of Piggy: Book 2 and onward will place down Traps.
- The bot in Temple (Spidella) places Slow Traps instead of Default Traps.
- The bot in Camp (Delta) places Big Traps instead of Default Traps.
- The bot in Breakout (Ombra) can teleport around the map and hide on the ceiling, but is unable to place traps.
- The bot in Mansion (Duocara) can move faster than the player and has two faces that determine what you need to do to make it stop chasing you, but is unable to place traps.
- The bot in the Metallica x Piggy Event (Eelektra) can be distracted, but will enter a rage state if distracted; it is also unable to place traps.
- The bots in Time (Gryffyn, Blatt, and Scry) are all patrol bots, but are unable to place traps. Gryffyn and Blatt were originally faster but were nerfed to be slower. Scry is unable to kill and instead alerts Blatt to your presence, which causes Blatt to speed up and go after players. Blatt is unable to see you or harm you unless you are seen by Scry.
- When the map returned in private servers, Blatt was returned to their former speed.
- When spectating a bot in Books 1 and 2, the name of the skin that bot is using will be shown as their "username".
- Bots that spawn during the Swarm gamemode cannot be spectated.
- Refinery and Lab are exceptions, with Tigry (Uniform) being called "Tigry" and Piggy (Distorted) being called "DistortedPiggy."
- This is the only "canon" gamemode during the Piggy Storyline. This is because the bots are the canon antagonists for each chapter. The only exceptions to this are non-canon maps, like RB Battles Studio.
- If no one votes for any gamemode, it automatically selects the bot gamemode.
