Budgey is a skin in Piggy. She was added into the game as a result of placing the top spot in the 2020 Custom Skin Contest, along with Ghosty, who placed second. Her concept art was made by Midnight.
Appearance
Budgey's in-game appearance closely resembles her concept art, being a dark green feathered budgerigar with orange legs, black talons, an orange talon at the end of her right arm (or wing), and desaturated pink cheeks on her face. Her beak is orange, with white feathers underneath it. She wears a black pirate hat with gold outlines and with a dark white skull logo topped with red feathers, and a blackish blue dress resembling a cloak. She has a green and light green plumage tail behind her and a silver hook on the end of her left arm (or wing) instead of a talon. She has light yellow pupils with black sclera and eyebrows pointed downwards.
In the concept art, Budgey wears a black collared cloak which consists of an orange button as well as the end of her collar and cloak both having gold outlines. Her collar is coloured red and her cloak has dark gray long sleeves, albeit her left sleeve is torn. She has white legs and orange feet, along with green and white feathers and a plumage tail. She wears a brown pirate hat over her red bandana with gold outlines and topped with red feathers. She has tiny white glowing pupils with black sclerae. There is also a hook at the end of her left arm (or wing) instead of a talon.
Animations
Idle
Stands mostly upright with legs spread out and, occasionally lifts her hook hand to her face with head slightly angled down.
Walking
Leans forward to walk with arms swaying and legs moving.
Jumpscare
Winds up the hook hand as she leans down, moves her right leg backwards and slightly spreads out right arm, then swings it the player. As she moves her right arm backwards, she leans down more, and moves her right leg forward and her left leg backwards.
Stunned
Looks down and puts arms down, with occasional head twitching (overlays the current animation).
Trivia
- Budgey placed first place in the Skin Contest with 16,222 votes.
- Budgey is female, which was told to MiniToon by Midnight, the creator of the skin, and confirmed through a build mode server chat.
- She shares her tail model with Crove and their alternate.
- Strangely, her right cheek sticks out further than her left cheek. Due to Crove sharing their head model with her, this also applies to them.
- Originally, this skin's name was Captain Budgey (named by the creator of the art), but MiniToon shortened it due to the name being too long and not fitting in the name box.
- Strangely enough, Marley Russell has the same amount of characters as Captain Budgey, however, his name wasn't shortened at all and somehow fits the name box.
- Additionally, Decaying Infected has more characters than Captain Budgey, however, their name also wasn't shortened at all and somehow fits the name box.
- In the concept art, Budgey has a cloak. This would've made her the only skin to have one, although the actual skin in-game lacks said cloak.
- Budgey is one of the several community-made skins in the game, along with Zompiggy, Billy, Ghosty, Mr. P, Gold Piggy, Kraxicorde, Silzous, Fergus, Shardantus, Marley Russell, Glenn, Jakayla, and ???.
- Despite having a slightly different design from her NPC counterpart, MiniToon confirmed that she won’t be receiving a redesign. [1]
- Budgey uses the arms of the Pirate Swashbuckler package[2] and the legs of the Telamon's Business Casual package[3], both from the Roblox Catalog.
- Rigging problems have led to a few distinctive qualities within this skin.
- Whenever Budgey jumps, her arms flap as if they were wings.
- Both Budgey and Pandy (Uniform) use the same animations for jumping and dancing.
- When you use the "/e dance2" emote, her arms go behind her. The same thing goes for Mr. Stitchy and some other skins.
- Budgey has the biggest cheeks in Piggy. This spot used to belong to Billy before he was redesigned.
- Budgey is one of the few skins to only have the pitch of their soundtrack changed, the others being Badgy, Dakoda, Archie, Spidella, ???, Shardantus and Jakayla.
- Unlike most skins with yellow pupils, she uses a different shade of yellow for her pupil. This applies to Officer Doggy and the old designs of both Doggy and Pony.
- She is the third skin that has a hand/arm replaced with a weapon, with the first being Robby, the second being Mr. P, the fourth being Raze, and the fifth being Mr. Bliss.
- Budgey is one of the few avian skins in the game, with the others being Crove, Owell, Primrose, and Phenna.
- Budgey is one of four skins from Book 1 to have eyebrows. The others are Mr. P, and the redesigned models for Billy and Tigry.
- According to MiniToon in a MiniMoon video, he claims that Budgey's theme is The Lonesone Sailor (Variation) by BSlick, the original variation of which plays as the ending cutscene soundtrack of Port - Chapter 7, however, the actual theme for Budgey is Cyprus Flute by APM Music. It is possible that MiniToon intended to change Budgey's theme like he did with Poley in Heist but ended up forgetting to do so. [4] The Lonesome Sailor (Variation) would later end up being the intro music for The Hunt: First Edition Event.
