"Go now... I'll hold off those monsters off for long as I can."
― Bunny, Metro - Chapter 7

Bunny is one of the four overarching protagonists (alongside Doggy, Zizzy, and Pony) of Piggy, serving as a major character in Book 1, only being mentioned (or a hallucination) in the second half of Book 2 and the main protagonist of Decay. She has two sisters called Bonnet and one with an unknown name. She was also one of Mr. P's researchers that helped him create Substance - 128. She was close friends with Mr. P, but they are currently on bad terms because Mr. P openly betrayed her in Hospital - Chapter 6. She later became friends with the Player and helped them throughout their journey. In Metro, however, since she was infected by drinking a potion Mr. P gave her, she told the Player that they must continue without her, which the Player was reluctant to do. Since then, she appeared as hallucinations in the Player's mind, similarly to Doggy.

Appearance

Main Game

Bunny is a cream-colored rabbit. She has a mouth consisting of two cream-colored circles and has a small pink nose. She has two brown cheeks and two long ears that have a darker shade of cream on the inside. She sports a light blue dress, bluish-gray leggings, and a black eye-patch. She is often seen holding a brown crossbow.

When she got infected, Bunny's eyes contained black sclera and a white pupil in her right eye, similar to her skin counterpart. A notable difference from his skin counterpart is that she lacks her crossbow and her right ear is shorter. She is also missing her eyepatch, revealing a scratch on her left eye.

Decay

Bunny's design in Decay is still similar to her normal design with a few differences. Her body model uses the torso from the Roblox Boy bundle. Her ears are more detailed, longer, and are colored light pink on the inside, as well as her mouth being larger and lighter in color. She now has eyelashes and whiskers and her nose and cheeks are now dark red as well. Her nose is now heart-shaped and has a cream top on it. She wears a bluish-gray shirt with a light blue overall dress. She wears darker blue leggings and has black shoes. She also has a visible rabbit tail behind her and the area below her mouth is lighter in color.

When she got infected, Bunny's eyes contained black sclera on her right eye and a glowing white sclera on her left eye. In the Game Over screen of Decay, she also lacks her eyepatch and eyelashes.

Old

Identical to her original counterpart, but she wears a light cyan dress and light blue leggings. Her nose is hot pink and was much larger, and her cheeks are a lighter shade of pink. Her mouth is smaller, is slightly closer together, and is in a different placement

History

Early life

Before the infection, Bunny was a rabbit who lived in Evalia with her sisters, Bonnet and an unnamed rabbit. They even celebrated Christmas in their house one evening with a small tree, however, they appeared to have poor living conditions. Sometime later, Bunny wanted to become a researcher for Mr. P, which her sisters likely opposed as Bunny had a fight with her unnamed sibling and later presumably decided to leave them behind for the job.

Creating Substance - 128

After a while in her job, she helped Mr. P create a cure for his sick wife, Mrs. P, who had a serious disease known as Linnaeoma. Bunny started to help create a cure along with a few other researchers, such as Sheepy. Soon, Mr. P created the supposed cure, which was codenamed Substance - 128, but all researchers, including Bunny, said that the cure was unstable. Being stubborn, Mr. P needed volunteers to test the supposed cure, and that's when the Piggy family, except Georgie, showed up to volunteer. When they drank the cure, they felt stronger, so Mr. P thought the cure was proper and gave it to Mrs. P. Later, Mr. P heard on the news that Piggy family started becoming hostile, but he thought it had nothing to do with his cure. However, Mrs. P started becoming aggressive as well, and her eyes turned red. Mr. P knew he had to stop her, but he let her go instead.

Failed rescue mission

After the infection started, Mr. P and Bunny went to a school to rescue Teacher, who, unbeknownst to them, drank a potion with Substance - 128. Because of that, Teacher turned infected and Mr. P and Bunny got separated. Bunny had to lock herself in a surveillance room and she remained there for a while.

Meeting the Player

After Mr. P contacted the Player through a walkie-talkie, he told them to help him save his friend Bunny. The Player entered that school and freed Bunny from the room she was locked in and then they both went down to the sewer system to meet up with Mr. P. The Player said they didn't feel so well and then collapsed, so Bunny and Mr. P rushed to bring them to the Hospital.

Escaping the Hospital

After the Player woke up in the Hospital, Bunny told them that the place was raided and that Mr. P is waiting for them in his helicopter on the roof of the Hospital. After escaping Beary, the two managed to get to the roof, but they didn't see helicopter there. Mr. P left without them, only leaving behind a note saying: "I have to do this for our own good." This forced the Player and Bunny to find another way out. Bunny, however stayed at the roof for a little longer, noticing the note that Mr. P left, and then went back to the Hospital with the Player.

Being left behind

Eventually, Bunny and the Player went to a metro station located beneath the hospital. Bunny started to not feel well and sat against the pillar near the metro, saying that she just needs to rest for a little. She also gave her crossbow to the Player so they could defend themselves from any potential attacker. While the Player was working on repairing the metro, they encountered Zompiggy, but managed to escape her nonetheless. When the Player finally got the metro working, Bunny revealed to them that Mr. P gave her the potion and that she drank it and would become infected. Not wanting to leave Bunny, the Player insisted that she should come with them, but Bunny told them that they need to go without her. Before the Player could finish their sentence Bunny urged them to go, telling them that she will hold the monsters off as long as she can. The Player reluctantly entered the metro and left the metro station without Bunny. Right before they left, Bunny wished them good luck.

Search for Bonnet and turning Infected

Bunny Infected confronting Henry Decay

Bunny after shooting a survivor called Mari, now fully infected.

Shortly after the Player left, Bunny started to suffer from the effects of the potion and the previous attack, causing her to start hallucinating as she hears her younger sister Bonnet. She decides to leave the station to search for her, going around various stations she starts to hallucinate even more as she decays due to the infection as well as going against Twisted Rabbit, another hallucination, chasing after her before arriving at an abandoned station. While trying to find her sister, she ends up fleeing from the monster again before escaping through a vent into an alley. After escaping, feeling guilty, she started lamenting herself before an infected mouse approached, rummaging in a nearby garbage bin. Bunny, worried, took a carrot and shot at the figure only for it to be a innocent, uninfected person named “Mari”, not knowing it was another hallucination and was at the last stage before turning infected as shortly after, a wolf named Henry appears, calling for them, as it then is revealed that she has fully become infected, and isn’t aware of her actions getting shot to the ground by him while she hallucinated both of her sisters in place of him for a mere second and is then left lying on the ground on the streets.

Legacy

After leaving Bunny in the metro station, the Player started to have hallucinations of Bunny at the outpost and the power plant. First time this occurred is when they saw Bunny in a watchtower at the outpost, as a shadow. Soon after that, they saw the hallucination of Bunny again as a ghost at the power plant, as well as hallucinating Doggy and other places.

Many months later, while leaving the temple, TIO appeared in the Player's mind and made them hallucinate Bunny again, along with Zizzy and Doggy. However, the Player was aware that these were just hallucinations and didn't believe them.

Battle against TIO

When the Player fights TIO, alongside their allies, Bunny shows up one last time as a hallucination in the Hospital. When the Player gives her a carrot, she runs after TIO and does her part in attacking him.

Personality

As an uninfected, Bunny is enthusiastic and motivating, according to the Player in their journal, which caused them to stay strong. She is also very kind and polite, and was grateful for being saved by the Player at the School. She never gave up, and stayed strong despite Mr. P leaving her and the Player behind at the Hospital. However, Bunny was also secretive and never told the Player the truth of her slowly turning into an infected at the Hospital, and only told this to the Player at the Metro after a while of her getting the potion. She deeply cares about her loved ones and allies, sometimes more than herself as shown in Decay with her sisters. After she turned infected, she became hostile to those who weren't.

Mr. P Before the infection: Friends

During the infection: Friends (later neutral)

Bunny and Mr. P seem to be good friends, since they're often seen together, like in a photo in credits of Piggy: Book 1 and in end of Hidden ending. Bunny was also one of the researchers that worked for Mr. P, and they also went together to rescue Teacher. However, their friendship was damaged when the hospital was raided by the infected. Bunny was attacked, so Mr. P gave her a potion, thinking it would save her. When he realized what he has done and, thinking the Player was infected, left the hospital without Bunny and the Player. Because of that, they are not on good terms anymore. Unknown
Player Before the infection: Unknown

During the infection: Friends

The Player rescued Bunny from Teacher and helped escape the school, which she was very grateful for. The Player themselves refers to Bunny as "very kind" and that her enthusiasm inspired them to be strong and get a hold of themselves. At the hospital, Bunny was at the Player's side. According to the Player's journal, when discovering that the Player had minimal symptoms of infection, Mr. P and the researchers didn’t think the Player would make it, but Bunny didn’t give up on them. She believed it was her duty to protect them from being tossed out since they saved her from school. In the school and hospital, Bunny also watched the Player's back from the infected. Later, when they arrived at the metro station, Bunny didn't feel well and gave her crossbow to the Player, which they later returned to her once they fixed the tram. However, Bunny then also revealed to them that they drank the potion Mr. P gave to her and that she will soon turn infected. The Player was horrified to hear this news and still asked her to come with them, but Bunny told them that they must continue without her, which the Player reluctantly did. It is Bunny's infection that spurs the Player to stop Mr. P. School - Chapter 5

When the Player opens the surveillance room, Bunny offers to help them get out of the school by stunning Teacher if given a carrot. School - Chapter 5
Beary Before the infection: Coworkers

Trivia

  • MiniToon has stated he wished he gave Bunny more story.
  • According to the events of School and a note in Plant, it is confirmed that she is friends with Mr. P and has helped him with his research.
  • Her head model in Decay is a slightly remodeled version of her head used for her alternate skin.
  • Despite having a long-ranged weapon, Bunny won't use the crossbow from a long distance to shoot Piggy. However, she can shoot the Piggy from a certain range.
  • Bunny is unable to be shot in the second part of Plant and can stun you if touched. This applies to Doggy as well.
  • Bunny's model in the Game Over Screen of Decay doesn't have eyelashes which is likely a mistake.
    • Bunny also lacks eyelashes on her left eye during the scene where she argues with her unnamed sibling.
    • A similar problem occurs with Bonnet as her shadow model lacks both eyelashes and cheeks.
      • Bonnet also lacks eyelashes on her left eye during the end cutscene alongside the unnamed sibling.
  • MiniToon replied to Devoun, a Piggy YouTuber who is known for his Suggestion Review series, on Twitter, questioning him saying "Remember Bunny for who she was, not what she became."
  • Despite her appearing as an infected during the Good and Bad Endings of Plant, she as well as the other infected don't show up in the True Ending.
    • Bunny's absence specifically was later explained in Decay.
  • She is one of MiniToon's favorite characters, the others being Georgie Piggy, Mr. P, and Willow.
  • She is the only friendly NPC in Build Mode that won't kill the soldiers when running into them.
  • Her head model in Piggy: Intercity (DEMO) has slightly different eye placement.
  • Despite her skin counterpart having a jumpscare sound when killing a player, she doesn't have an activation noise in any of the chapters she appears as a helpful NPC in. This makes her the first helpful NPCs to lack an activation noise, with the others being Rash, Zee, Willow, Billy and Tigry.
  • Strangely, her hallucination in Plant still uses the old head model. This applies to Doggy as well.
  • She is the first character to wear an eyepatch, the others being Ghosty and TIO.
    • Interestingly, all three of them have their eyepatch covering their left eye.
  • Some people believe that Teacher barricaded her inside the security room. However, in the Player's journal dedicated to School, it is revealed that she did this to herself to defend herself from Teacher.
  • According to the notes from School, it seems that Bunny arrived at the School to rescue the Teacher. However, in the Player's journal, it appears that Bunny arrived at the School for a supply run.
    • This inconsistency could be because MiniToon remembered this chapter incorrectly, or it could hint that the Player's journal isn't entirely accurate.
  • It was believed that she would return in Book 2 due to her appearing in the trailer as a ghost for a brief second. MiniToon even hinted 0:54 which is the time of the Book 2 trailer when Bunny appears. However, MiniToon was likely just alluding to her appearance in the second phase of the Hidden Ending and not an actual hint. The trailer may also allude to her hallucination in Temple's ending cutscene in the Savior Ending.
  • A ghost version of Bunny can be spawned in Build Mode through the Dreidel Event. This acts like a normal NPC that will chase and stun the Piggy.
  • In one of the pictures in credits of Piggy: Book 1, Bunny is seen with Mr. P in the Hospital without her eyepatch. This was her before the infection, which means that Bunny's eye got wounded sometime during the infection. She also lacks her eyepatch in the Piggy: Book 2 Credits and when arguing with her unnamed sibling in Decay.
    • According to MiniToon in an interview, Bunny's eyepatch "just looked cool".
  • Bunny has only one quote in Book 2 which is in Temple - Chapter 10.
  • Bunny was one of the options on a poll ran by MiniToon where he asked which characters the community would like to see more story of, with the other options being the T.S.P. crew, Mimi and Giraffy, and Zizzy and her sisters, Zee and Zuzy.[1]
    • The voting has since ended with Bunny winning the poll.
  • Bunny helps us by being able to stun the Piggy in three chapters, theses being School, Hospital, and Lab (Hidden Ending).
  • It is often speculated Bunny's second sister is (or at least is based of) Brella, a character from “Piggy: The Lost Book”, a fan game by DerpyDervee, though this has yet to be confirmed it could be possible as DerpyDervee worked on Decay.
  • Her clothing color varies for every player in Decay when playing with more than one person.
  • Although Bunny is shown to be infected during Decay's ending cutscene, her fate is unknown as she got shot, and although we shoot infected almost every chapter, that appears to be non-canon and infected die to carrots throughout the Decay chapter, though MiniToon hints at them being immune to gun shots. It's also possible that they were only knocked out and them despawning was purely for gameplay reasons. Additionally, infected are known to have high resilience meaning Bunny most likely survived the gunshot.
