Crouching is a game mechanic in Piggy. It is mainly used to go through vents.
Usage
Crouching is an ability only exclusive to survivors and traitors, as well as player infected in Decay’s Infection mode. When used (B/Circle on controller; CTRL, left Shift or click on PC; or tapping the crouch button on mobile), your character goes down into a crawling position. This lowers your movement speed but can also pass through vents and hatches. In some cases, this feature can further be utilized for hiding behind some objects.
Trivia
- Crouching in a vent for an extended period of time is mildly disliked and is referred to as "vent camping" by the community. This is usually only apparent in House, Mall, and Lab, although the latter two have certain bots to help deal with it.
- As Piggy, the crouching feature gets replaced with Traps.
- For the Traitor, both the ability to crouch and place Traps are given to them. When their buttons overlapped (pre-Energy update), crouching had the button shortcut while traps would need to be manually clicked regardless of device. After the addition of the Energy Bar, their buttons do not overlap and they can be done simultaneously.
- When the Abilities update was released, for the first few hours, the crouch button showed up on the left side instead of the right. This made it very inconvenient for mobile players, as they'd have to release their finger off the moving pad to crouch.
- This was eventually reverted.
- In RB Battles Spaceship, the button received a new redesign with more modern UI, later used again in Time.
- Mansion and the Metallica x Piggy Event both allow you to crouch, but give you no reason to, rendering the button useless in these chapters.
