Decay is a character-focused chapter in Piggy and the sixth character-focused chapter in Piggy overall. It is focused on Bunny, who the player controls, and explores what happened after she was left behind in Metro - Chapter 7. The chapter takes place in two subplaces: Decay: Lobby and Decay: Game[1][2]. Up to four players can join a lobby to enter the main chapter. It was part of the Roblox event called The Haunt and was released alongside it on October 24th, 2024 and ended on November 1st, 2024.
Appearance[]
The design and architecture of the metro system varies from station to station. Station 5 and 6 feature white brick walls with blue and green colored tiles lining the lower sections of the walls. They have white tiled flooring with a gray metallic ceiling and yellow-tinted lighting. Station 2 is characterized by its curved ceiling and white tiled walls. The walls are also lined with a wooden plating at the bottom. The flooring is made up of gray tiles the station makes use of fluorescent lighting.
The map also reuses a portion of Metro - Chapter 7 at the start of the chapter.
Plot[]
Bunny wakes up right where we left her during Metro and hallucinates her little sister, Bonnet, running through a nearby door shortly after waking up. She then begins a quest to find her. After crossing the plank that she must use the crossbow on, she sees Bonnet run through another door. Later, she sees Bonnet yet again, leading her to hallucinate a hallway similar to those in the Hospital. She then begins to hallucinate silhouettes of Mr. P and Sheepy walking in front of her. The silhouettes then stop and suddenly turn to face her direction, revealing their glowing white eyes. Throughout the journey, she fends off infected that she must shoot with her crossbow to avoid being damaged. Then Bonnet runs through one last door, in which she hallucinates her house. Bunny sees herself arguing with one of her sisters before disappearing. As Bunny is still on her quest, she sees a distorted rabbit, freakishly tall and missing a limb. Bunny is chased through a long tunnel until escaping through a door. After another assortment of obstacles, she finds this same rabbit-like figure, chasing her again. After hiding in a vent at the end of a hallway, she escapes the metro station. Bunny, in an alleyway, reminisces about Bonnet and feels guilty about not being able to save her. Shortly after, an infected mouse approaches Bunny. Out of instinct, she shoots the mouse. It is then revealed that the character was actually a survivor that seemed to be an infected due to Bunny's hallucinations. A wolf called Henry walks into the alleyway Bunny and the mouse character, whom he refers to as Mari, are in. It's then revealed that Bunny has fully turned into an infected. Henry, whom Bunny hallucinates as Bonnet and her other sister, shoots Bunny. The scene fades to black and an unknown entity beings talking, commenting on the unfortunate end for Bunny's story, and hints towards future endings for this chapter.

Gameplay[]
This chapter's gameplay is very distinct from that of any chapter thus far. All players are locked into first person and are given a crossbow at near the spawn with infinite ammo and a brief reload time. This crossbow is able to harm infected and break wooden planks. Most threats will not instantly kill players and instead deal damage to them, which can be recovered from medkits. Revives can be purchased in the lobby for Robux that can be used once per round after death. There is no persistent bot and instead, numerous infected will spawn to attack you and respawn some time after death. Rounds are joined via the train cars in the lobby which can hold up to four players. Infected take more hits to defeat if more players are present.
Progression[]
Beginning[]
Upon spawning, players will be put in the same location Bunny was at the end of the Metro chapter. In front of the player lies a crossbow, a weapon that can eliminate infected and break weak boards.

The room the player spawns in.
Additionally, the crossbow can break TV screens and most light fixtures, although this does not have any practical use. After picking up the crossbow, the player must go down the train tracks until they reach a large hole. To get past the large hole, the player must shoot the weak board attached to the ceiling so a plank can fall over the hole. This area has a blue translucent carrot pointing up above the hole to help newer players find what to do.
After getting past the hole, there is an intermediate platform with a door on the left. A shadow hallucination will enter this door and a laughter sound effect will play. Inside, there will be two doors and one green lock door. The player must go through the door closest to the green lock door and open one of the lockers. Inside will be the green key to unlock that door.
Shops[]
Upon reaching the shops area, the player can take either of two options to progress: the screwdriver method or the crossbow method.
- The screwdriver method requires you to get a screwdriver and unscrew the ventilation grille in the kitchen of Chez Castor to get into the unfinished store. You can find the screwdriver in either the room in the hallway right beside the entrance to the shops area or the room right beside the turnstile gate, the way out of the shops area.
- The crossbow method requires you to shoot the broken glass to the right of the unfinished store.

The shops area.
After entering the store, the player must open the cabinets to get a store key into CaseClosed. Inside CaseClosed will be the metro ticket. After the player picks up the metro ticket, they are now able to open the turnstile gates located up the stairs in the shops area. After doing so, the player can take two different options again to progress: going through the hospital hallucination scene or switching the switches on the electrical boxes.
- The hospital hallucination sequence is played when going through the doors the shadow hallucination enters. It is a long hallway that leads to a storage room outside of Station 6.
- The electrical box method requires you to turn the electrical boxes on in the two other rooms to open the gate to Station 6.
Station 6[]
Once inside Station 6, the player must find a plank, found either on the ground of the storage room after the hallucination sequence or on a shelf outside of said room, and place it over the gap between the two platforms. After which players then have to find an employee key inside one of the bathroom stalls on the other side of the bridge. Once obtained, the player must open the employee door and inside the wardrobe will be a shovel. This shovel allows you to dig out a pile of dirt on the tracks, letting you progress to the next section.

Station 6
After walking down a long tunnel, the player will end up in a large room with ceiling fans over top. The player must go onto the intermediate platform to the right and ascend the stairwell to the catwalk. Here, the player must crouch onto one of the blades of the ceiling fan to get to the other side. After doing so, the player must walk to the room down the catwalk and open a wardrobe to obtain a fan blade. This fan blade allows you reach back to the previously unreachable part of the catwalk by adding a blade to the previously bare fan between the sections. Inside the room connected to that section is a maintenance key. Afterwards the player must go back down to the tracks and open the door on the other intermediate platform.
Valves[]
After opening the maintenance door, the player will find themselves in a dark hallway maze. The player must first navigate to a room with the axe, which the player must take a left immediately when entering the room. Inside one of the lockers is an axe. Afterwards, the player must turn three valves in quick succession to move on. Upon turning a valve, a ticking sound will begin to play. To know when your time is up, the ticking sound will begin speeding up until it stops. When it stops, you must turn all the valves again. The water released by a valve has collisions and disappears once its respective valve is closed.

The ventilation shaft.
After walking down the hallway, the player can progress two different ways, the hallucination sequence or the ventilation shaft:
- The hallucination sequence can be entered when going through the door the hallucinated silhouette runs through. Here, the player will enter a home-like area and there will be two silhouettes talking to each other. The player must walk through to the end to progress.
- The ventilation shaft is located at the end of the hallway, in which the player must open and crawl through to get to the next portion.
This will put the player into a large ventilation room. The player must walk through the ventilation fans without getting hit by the blade. The third fan requires the player to shoot or axe a weak fan blade and the fourth fan requires the player to stop the fan with the axe.
Claw puzzle[]

The claw puzzle area.
Upon entering the claw puzzle area, the player must search the lockers and wardrobes for a lever. The lever is to be used at the top of the platform, after which the player must lower the claw to ground level. Afterwards, the player must find the burlap bag and attach it to the claw. Then, the player has to raise the claw back up and move the claw so it's directly over a weak spot in the ground. This can be done by moving the claw forward twice, right, forward twice, left, and backward or forward twice, left twice, back, left, up, and right. The player then has to drop it and enter the ventilation shaft. They will then be put into a maze where the player must turn left, then right whenever provided two options. All turns in the vents except the first and last are left, the aforementioned two being the only right turns.
First chase[]
After finishing the ventilation maze, the player will find themselves in a tunnel with a tunnel key directly in front of them. Picking up the tunnel key will cause Twisted Rabbit to break through the wall and the player is forced to travel the opposite way to escape. Along the path are several obstacles, including boards that the player must shoot to progress. After reaching the end of the tunnel, the player must use the key on the tunnel door and they will be put into a long hallway to Station 2.
Station 2[]
In Station 2, the player must find a gate key and activate two electric panels. The gate key can be found inside one of the washrooms and one of the electric panels can be found inside another room before the locked gate is to be opened. After opening the locked gate, the player must shoot down the boards that block a room, which another electric panel is located in. After activating both electric panels, the gate to Station 2 will open.

Station 2.
Inside the platform area will be infecteds with guns. The player must navigate onto the tracks to locate a pickaxe located on the tracks, after which the player must use the pickaxe on three rocks inside a room to the right of the gate. After breaking the rocks, the player must pick up the station key inside the locker and use it on a door on the other side of the platform. The player then must walk down the hallways until they encounter another door. Behind this door is a single armed infected that blocks the way to the final area.
Second chase[]
After opening the final door, you will be put into another chase sequence that plays out similarly to the first one. This sequence has much tighter timing and has many more boards present, including instances of two boards in one spot. After reaching the end, the player must shoot the board over the vent to the left behind an ATM and escape through the vent which leads them to the exit of the chapter.
Damage mechanics[]
As mentioned above, hazards will typically damage you instead of instantly killing you. When taking damage, your screen will have a red vignette which limits your visibility. The strength of the vignette and the amount of visibility reduced increases the more damage you take. There are three ways you can take damage: getting attacked from infecteds, fall damage, and fan blades. Each method of taking damage takes different amounts:
- Infected: 1/3 of your maximum health
- Fall damage: 1/3 or 2/3 of your maximum health, depending on the height fallen from
- Fan blades: 1/3 of your maximum health
There are also ways to die instantly, those being:
- Falling in the hole at the start of the map.
- Dying to Twisted Rabbit.
You can heal back to maximum health by consuming a medkit. Upon death, you will be put into a spectator screen which gives you the option to either revive or return to the lobby. One revive costs 15 Robux, and for a pack of four, it costs 50 Robux.
Bot Mechanics[]
The infected have set spawn areas and spawn instantly when entering said area for the first time. Upon death, it takes around 20-30 seconds to respawn. Their regular pathfinding mechanics doesn't lead them to stray beyond their spawn radius. However when approached or shot at, they will begin taking the fastest path towards you. If you're elevated, they will not be able to pathfind to a staircase or ladder unless they're in the shortest path to the player. They are also unable to open doors and get easily stumped by them. They move much slower than a running player, but slightly faster than a crouching player. Once they attack, there is a cooldown of about two seconds[confirm] before they can damage you again. In order to defeat them, the player must shoot them with their crossbow or hit them with their axe at least three times (scales with the amount of players in the round). Rarely, an infected will be able to rise up back again after being downed for a few seconds while regaining full health[confirm].
The armed infected behave differently from normal infected. They do not chase the player, instead standing in place and sometimes moving in small increments. They will aim for a few seconds then fire, dealing the same damage as a hit from a regular infected. Armed infected are surrounded by red lights.

Speedrunning[]
Speedrunning the chapter takes 9+ minutes depending on how many players are participating. For one-player speedruns, the most optimal route to take would be to go through the hospital hallucination sequence and skip the house hallucination sequence. Other tips include to try not to waste time killing infecteds or consuming medkits, memorize the locations of the valves and how to navigate through the mazes, and try to take the shortest path towards any location. Another trick is that you can shorten the time you wait on the fans by moving from one blade to another quickly while on the fan and simply falling down from the catwalk when you get the employee key.
Tips[]
- Playing with other people is optimal. The only cons to having more players is the infected having more health, but unarmed infected can be trapped behind doors while armed infected are better off dodged than attacked. More players can search for items faster and break boards more easily.
- Combat is never necessary and the best way to beat Decay is by speeding through and dodging the sluggish infected. Focusing on combat can be a burden, especially on repeat attempts.
- If ever damaged, medkits are common and good to use to make visibility easier. Medkits are quick to take and can easily be used while running past one.
- Infected take the same damage regardless of where they're hit, so shoot them at any part you can. Their heads and arms may sometimes clip through walls, making for easy hits.
- The crossbow can shoot between gaps in fences and the like.
- Against armed infected, try moving in odd patterns to reduce the likelihood of getting hit. Do this while also doing the section as fast as possible.
- Though the axe can be used as a weapon, its low range and the fact that it does the same damage as the crossbow make it entirely impractical. Once used to wedge the last ventilation fan, it's best left there.
- There is no practical use to shooting out televisions and lights, doing this can be a detriment depending on how well lit the area you're in is.
- Stay attentive during the second chase you can spot boards as soon as possible. The second chase leaves little room for error.
- Both chases have fake doors that will not open, with no indicator that they don't until you try. Note that the only doors you will open in any chase are the tunnel key door and its following door in the first chase.
Notes[]

- YOUR REFLECTION TWISTS WHEN YOU'RE NOT LOOKING.
- your future self is watching you right now through your memories
- THE WALLS REMEMBER YOUR SCREAMS
- YOUR SHADOW KNOWS WHAT YOU'LL DO LONG BEFORE YOU DECIDE.
- WHAT YOU FORGET DOESN'T DISAPPEAR, IT'S WAITING FOR YOU TO REMEMBER.
- THE QUIET VOICE IN YOUR HEAD ISN'T YOURS... IT'S THE ONE WHO REPLACES YOU
- WWS
Chapter[]
- This station is in desperate need of renovations. I can practically hear the ceiling crumble from time to time. Where is the city budget going?
- If my food doesn't go bad while this... event goes on, please help yourself while I am gone.
- nobody wants green flavur
- Three days have already passed. Why isn’t anyone answering any calls? Where is everyone?! I want to try to leave, But I can hear many growls outside my door
- I'll wait things out here. Surely this will blow over soon. Just need to wait for the police to respond. Then I will be able to see my dear Marci again
- Dear Marci, I hope you’re doing okay! I will try to find you. I have nearly run out of food but I have just enough to give me energy to leave. I miss you so much. If I don’t make it. I sure hope you do and find this letter. You’re my everything.
- YOU LEFT US FOR HIM
- Dear diary today is a very special day!! We’re going to see aunt Lori. She always has fun things to do at her place! I’m waiting at the metro for the train. Mommy doesn’t feel too well. She went to the washroom earlier. I hope she’s doing okay
- Things are not going well over at this new station. Problems with the TV’s. Problem with the ATM machines… if things end up like the old stations. Then we’ll just have to close down the metro system down.
- OUR LAST TIME
- I'm blocking this passage off. Maybe something can work out on the surface, but certainly not down here.
- I can’t believe they are closing this station down. There have been many good memories made here! I guess all good things come to an end some day.
Development[]
Prior to the development of this chapter, MiniToon created a poll on Twitter on what the future character-focused chapter on Piggy would be about. The results of a poll lead to this chapter being focused on Bunny[3].
Development for this chapter began in August of 2024. In the early stages of development, MiniToon created the new UI, which was inspired by Call of Duty: Black Ops II[4], and crossbow system in a reused metro map, which the development team later improved on[5]. Each member of the team would then continue to contribute to the chapter in a different way:
- MiniToon - Scripter, builder, and voice acting[6]
- Epic_Tank - Scripter[7][8]
- Neosvoid - Lobby builder and model designer[8]
- Axel Glow - Model designer and animator[8]
- Luniona - Animator[8]
- IneffableYT - Icon and thumnbnail designer and animator[9][8]
- MarcMixy - Animatior[8]
- BSlick & his daughters - Sound effects and music[8]
- Experia - Model designer[8]
- Rings0fSaturn - Damage effects[8]
- SuperNob123 - Animal head model textures and mechanics[10]
- IK3As (indirectly) - Map designer for Metro - Chapter 7, reused in Decay
Throughout the development process, MiniToon would begin to release teasers of the update:
- On July 6th, 2024, MiniToon gave out three emojis as leaks for the chapter[11]
- On August 17th, 2024, MiniToon tweeted an image of the new Bunny model.[12]
- On September 2nd, 2024, MiniToon tweeted a video of the new chapter.[13]
- On September 13th, 2024, MiniToon tweeted an image featuring the new UI.[14]
- On September 28th, 2024, MiniToon tweeted a leak of the chapter he shared in a live stream but from a different angle.[15]
- On October 18th, 2024, MiniToon uploaded the "Completed Decay" badge, revealing the name of the chapter.[16]
- On October 20th, 2024, Piggy News tweeted an image of two sub-places called "Decay: Lobby" and "Decay: Game".[2]
- On October 22nd, 2024, two days before the release of Decay, we got four teasers on Twitter: one showcasing the chapter[17], one showcasing Bunny's crossbow[18], one showcasing the lobby[19], and one showcasing an event in the map.[20]
- On October 23rd, 2024, one day before the release of Decay, we got a clip of some of the gameplay by MiniToon and Epic_Tank.[21]
The development team would then release the Decay update on October 24th, 2024. The following day, the obtainable skin for this chapter, Decaying Infected, would be released, alongside lag optimization option during chase sequences, and bigger boards in the second chase sequence[22]. Soon later, an option for tap to shoot or to use a crosshair for mobile players was added.[23]
Part 1.5[]
After 4 months since Decay's initial release, on March 1st 2025, Epic_Tank teased a mode where player's could become Decaying Infecteds during the chapter, with a voice changer for anyone who has turned infected.[24]
On March 2nd, 2025, one day after the initial leak, Infection was added to Decay, during the mode, one person spawns as a Decaying Infected, and would attempt to kill the survivors. With the infected being killed by less shots from the Crossbow compared to a Decaying Infected bot. If any Player dies at all, they will become infected. Additionally, during the Twisted Rabbit chase, all infected despawn.
If anyone is infected, voice chat will have a filter to make their voice sound deeper, they also had a special bubble chat.
Part 2[]
For more information, see Decay II: Delirium.
The ending cutscene of Decay teased a second part to the chapter, and on March 2nd 2025, MiniToon sent a poster for the second part featuring Twisted Rabbit and Bunny, with the text Decay II: Delirium at the bottom.[25] With Epic_Tank saying the best is yet to come.[26]
Trivia[]
- Decay is the second chapter with no timer[27], with the first being RB Battles Spaceship.
- Decay is the second chapter to force the first-person perspective onto the player, with the first being Breakout.
- Decay is the longest map in Piggy, taking 8-10 minutes to complete.[28]
- Decay introduced a new model for Bunny, though MiniToon said it won't be redesigned onto the skin and the NPC counterpart.
- He did say it may possibly come as a Player Model.
- Decay is the only character-focused chapter to feature a badge.
- Decay is the only chapter in Piggy to have a reviving mechanic.
- A purple bed with a military shirt can be found in a room, suggesting Tigry took refuge there before meeting Rash. Interestingly, Tigry was added as a skin when Metro released, which is the place Decay took place.
- When Henry witnessed Bunny killing Mari, she viewed them as possibly one of her sisters closely resembling Brella from The Lost Book.
- Decay, RB Battles Spaceship, Time, and Distorted Holiday are the only chapters in Piggy to use 2022 materials.
- Despite contributing to this chapter, SuperNob123 wasn't credited as MiniToon forgot to add her. This has now been fixed.
- According to Luniona, the scene where Bunny shot Mari is a reference to one of the scenes in the last episode of Murder Drones, called Absolute End.
- Coincidentally, the hallucination of Sheepy and Mr. P is similar to the humans in Murder Drones as they are both silhouettes with white glowing pupils.
- In a secret room in the lobby, which was previously only accessible by glitching, there was a computer which had a character from Dandy's World, called Vee on the screen.
- In the 1.5 Update, players were able to enter the room and the screen of the computer was changed to an image of Bunny, and some files and notifications relating to Epic_Tank.
- Bunny's clothing color varies for every player in Decay when playing with more than one person.
- Bunny's head starts twitching after she shoots Mari, likely meaning that she turns infected at that moment. Her eyebrows also disappeared in said moment.
- Decay was released on the 3 year anniversary of Lab.
- Decay is the first character-focused chapter to not be featured inside any chapter selection menu, instead being accessible in the bonus chapters menu.
- Despite the fact that The Haunt event ended, the icon and thumbnail for the game had the Haunt border on it up until November 23rd, 2024.
- In a room where the fan blade is located, distant screaming can be heard from the top of the staircase which MiniToon joked about voicing it.[29]
- In a bathroom stall there were two toilet papers on top of the toilet, which one is black and the other is pink, which MiniToon dubbed it the "Piggy Toilet".[30]
- The original Metro map was used to test the system for Decay.[32]
- There's a glitch in the hallucination of Sheepy and Mr. P in the hospital where the shadows won’t turn around if you’re playing on mobile and glitch out for a mere second.
- The paw used in the mobile UI of the chapter resembles a paw seen in a previous Team i2R teaser.
- If you die at the very end of the second chase, you can see both the Twisted Rabbit model for the jumpscare animation and the model that looks inside the vent.
- All lights will make a glass shattering noise when hit, but not all lights turn off once hit. The lights in the Hospital hallucination or the tunnel entered after clearing the dirt do not darken when shot.
- Upon entering the ventilation maze before the first chase, there is either a red or blue light seen behind a square mesh.
- This chapter possibly made the Mari and Laura skins canon.
- In the ending cutscene, we are introduced to another mouse named Mari, who is also a brown mouse like the skin. However, nothing else is confirmation other than that.
- As for Laura, we see a black diary, the same color as Laura's dress, with Laura's teddy bear next to it. The contents written in the diary talk about an Aunt Lori, and Lori starts with an "L". This could imply that this was written by Laura, it also appears to be written by a minor, and Laura is a minor.
- Interestingly, MiniToon previously confirmed that both Mari and Laura aren't currently related to the lore and isn't part of the Insolence, though he did stated that this could change in the future.
- MiniToon and Epic_Tank have stated that there will be a Part 2 to Decay, which could be as big as the Paranormal Pigmas update.
- Later, MiniToon revealed the poster for Decay Part 2, with the words Decay II: Delirium.
- 302K People own the “Completed Decay” badge as of April 17th, 2025.
- Presumably, you can fall into the void by entering the ventilation maze before the first chase, you go to the second blocked path by a grate.
