Fans are a mechanic in Decay serving as gimmick used to progress through the map and to act as an obstacle. There are two variants: the ceiling fan and the ventilation fan. The ceiling fan also has an item counterpart, aptly named ceiling fan.
Appearance[]
The ceiling fan consists of four rotating blades of a light brown hue. All four blades are of equal distance apart and are connected through a thin blade iron or the same color, which connects the fan to the ceiling.
The ventilation fans spin vertically rather than horizontally. The color and shape of the blades is an exact copy of the one's of the ceiling fan. However, instead of a thin blade iron holding up, it is supported by two gray fan brackets on either side of the fan.
The item itself is dark gray. However when placed it matches the color of the other fans.
Usage[]
The ceiling fans act as a method of travelling from one catwalk to the other by crouching down onto one of the blades. However, the second ceiling fan requires the ceiling fan item for you to be able to move to the other catwalk.
The ventilation fans act as an obstacle, dealing one third of your maximum health[confirm] each time you hit the side of the blade. The first two that you come across are slow-moving and contain missing blades. The third one contains a broken wooden blade which you can shoot to get to the next one. The fourth one is fast moving, requiring an axe to stop the fan from rotating.
