"Alright, where are you, you monster? I'm not scared of you."
― Tigry referring to Ombra, Breakout
Ombra is a skin in Piggy: Book 2. It first appears in Breakout as the main bot and is obtained by beating the chapter. Two more Ombra variants appear as secondary bots. Based on its resemblance to the Crawling Trap and Sentinels, it is likely an Insolence creature created by TIO.
Appearance[]
Ombra is a primarily black tiger-like creature with glowing white highlights all over its body. Its face consists of two white circular eyes, a triangular nose and a jagged mouth, with stripes on the sides of the head. Its torso is quite skinny compared to that of other skins, forming an almost triangular shape at the top. Its hands and feet are all primarily black with white tips on the end (similarly to Sentinel and Crawling Trap). It has two giant appendages sprouting from its back, extending in front of the body and having white blade-like tips. Ombra has a tail similar to that of Tigry, but primarily black and with white stripes, with white stripes on its back. Its glowing parts are pitch black whenever it's on the ceiling.
The other Ombra variants (red and purple) have different colored stripes, faces, and claws.
Obtainability[]
Ombra is obtained by completing Breakout, done by getting the Military Knife from the Armory Room and using it on the Ombra bot. This room is unlocked with a code split into four digits spread across four subspaces, each with a different objective.
Animations[]
Idle[]
Stands leaning forward with arms in front of chest. Has appendages stretched in front and has a constant breathing motion, with an occasional sideways head movement.
Walk[]
Walks in a bobbing motion, swaying side to side while moving legs and appendages forward.
Jumpscare[]
Pounces at player, jabbing its appendages into them before jumping back into its original position.
Teleport[]
It digs into the ground using its appendages and dives into the ground. Then it pops out of the ceiling either in the tanks area, near the wires, or above the metal bridge above the wires area. (Only happens when Ombra is chasing a player, it is also harder to see it).
Trivia[]
- According to Axel_Glow, Ombra takes inspiration from various 80’s horror films.
- The purple and red variants of Ombra run faster than the original Ombra.
- They are the first skin in the game modeled by Axel_Glow to also be animated by him as both Sentinel and Piggy (Distorted) were animated by MiniToon.
- Despite not being involved with any holiday, season, or crossover event; Ombra still counts as an extra skin.
- This also applies to Phenna, Sentinel, Laura, Fergus, Marley Russell, Glenn, Shardantus, The Prototype and Jakayla.
- Ombra is one of the nine skins that have a different jumpscare angle, following with ???, Duocara, Fergus, Shardantus, Marley Russell, Glenn, Jakayla, Blatt, and Meisery.
- When killing a player, a sound identical to the one used by ??? can be heard. This is also the case with Duocara.
- Due to the special First Person mode being active, Ombra doesn't have the ability to play soundtracks itself in Breakout. Instead, the system will play the soundtrack for the players who got targeted and that player spotted it, rather than universally.
- Their head model resembles Tigry's old head model. Ironically, Tigry received his new head model in the same chapter Ombra first appears in.
- Ombra, along with Duocara in Mansion, are the only two bots to not emit the sting noise that plays when they spot a player, the only way to know if they have begun chasing you is when their theme begins playing when you look at them.
- Although the music does not play unless you spotted Ombra, you can tell if it’s in its chasing state by listening to the footsteps.
- As a skin, Ombra’s theme always plays when you’re near it.
- This is the third bot to have the ability to teleport, with the first two being Markus and Piggy (Distorted).
- Unlike others, Ombra has a unique animation while teleporting, and has 3 places on the ceiling it teleports to.
- Also unlike others Ombra can randomly teleport while being in a chase, while the others can‘t.
- Its name, "Ombra", is one letter apart from "Umbra", the canonical name of the Crawling Trap.
- When using the /e point emote, Ombra performs the teleporting animation but doesn't actually teleport.
- This is the second skin to perform a different animation from what it’s supposed to when emoting, with the others being ???, Marley Russell, Jakayla, Shardantus, Fergus, Glenn, Eelektra, Duocara, Duocara (Mayor), and Spidella.
- He’s also the first bot to have a custom emote, the second being Spidella (reanimated).
- Like the Sentinels, there are three more Ombra variants in Breakout.
- A silhouetted version of Ombra can be briefly seen running down a hallway in the bunker's basement upon turning the corner after falling into the basement.
- A red version of Ombra can be seen in the memory of Tigry's house guarding the House key.
- A purple version of Ombra will appear if you stand long enough on the black tiles on the Desk Event, although it's face is black and only it's claws and spikes glow purple. Additionally, its jumpscare sound is lower pitched than the normal and red variants.
- For unknown reasons, Ombra doesn't have a stun animation.
- Sentinel and Blatt also lack stun animations.
- This may be due to the fact that there is no way to stun them in their respective maps.
- Sentinel and Blatt also lack stun animations.
- Similarly to how "Umbra" comes from Latin and means "shadow", "Ombra" comes from descendants of Latin and can mean "shade".
- Ombra is one of the quest skins you can obtain for escaping a map, the others being Duocara, Eelektra, Frostiggy, Blatt, Mr. P, ???, Decaying Infected, Sam, Mrs. P, and Centrell.
- According to Axel Glow, Ombra was intended to have whiskers but they fell off. He didn't notice until Ombra was added to the game and the version without whiskers was used.[1]
- The whiskers are present on Ombra's UGC Head.
- When a player grabs the Military Knife, Ombra will freeze in place. This can softlock the chapter if Ombra is on the ceiling while the Military Knife is in someone's inventory.
- Whenever Ombra is on the ceiling, its glowing parts will be pitch black to be more hidden.
- In a MiniMoon video, MiniToon identifies Ombra as a female, however this doesn't necessarily confirm Ombra's gender as past MiniMoon videos have contradicting statements within them.
