Player, referred to as "civilized mode" in Sketchy, is a gamemode in Piggy, in which one player is given the role of the Piggy and are put up against the team of survivors. The player behind the Piggy is able to place traps, but under the limits of energy. The Piggy controlled by the player appears as the latter's skin equipped in the Shop.
Description
One player is randomly chosen as the Piggy, with the chances boosted if you have the x2 Piggy Chance gamepass. When the game begins, the Piggy (using the skin that the player has selected in the shop) is put in the Piggy Waiting Room, where they can read some tips on the walls. Energy is also gained during this time, totaling to around 3 by the end. After 30 seconds, the Piggy is put into the map to hunt and kill survivors.
The Piggy is allowed to use up to 3 traps they've selected, unlike most bots, however is limited by the Energy they gain over time. Also, they do not shake doors before opening, they simply have to click the door like a player would. If the player leaves, a bot will take their place.
The player is able to be unpredictable with their traps at their hand at all times (if they have Energy). However, the player is able to be distracted by occurrences such as Friendly NPCs or a loaded gun. Because of this, Player is usually harder than Bot since the bot usually only follows players.
Tips
Survivors
- Keep an eye out for the infected at all times. Unlike the bots before Sewers, players will not always know where you are, and will usually have to rely on traps to catch you.
- Get the weapon/trigger the friendly NPCs early, before the infected wakes up. This will give you an advantage over the infected, as you will be able to stun them for longer and get an extra 20 seconds to open up the map.
- Distract the infected. You can distract the infected to buy time for the other players to unlock the map, using abilities such as Decoy and Flare.
- Keep as many routes unobstructed as possible. Disarm traps while the conditions are safe as to avoid later getting cornered in a chase. Unlock as much of the map early on as you can, as this opens up more opportunity for looping the Piggy.
- Be thoughtful with your abilities. You may want to pass on using an ability right away to save up for another one that will come in critical to your or your teammates' survival later. Conversely, if you have a solid safety plan, you can spend some energy right away on a ability with long-term advantage (like Flare, Radar, Magnifying Glass, etc.).
Infected
- Use the traps at your disposal. Traps will usually help you halt the player just long enough for you to kill them, especially using traps such as the Black Hole Trap and the Crawling Trap.
- Hide behind doors and walls. The survivors might not expect the player to be behind the wall/door, allowing you to get the kill.
- Avoid the weapons/friendly NPCs. Try to evade the gun by moving left and right while jumping, which will give you a chance to not get hit. Run away from the friendly NPCs like Doggy in Gallery; closing a door on them makes them waste time opening said door. If you have the Crawling Trap or the Tombstone Trap, you can use the bot spawned to tank a hit from these items.
Appearance
The icon depicts the default skin in the Shop, Piggy, to the left. Behind is a maroon background, with a glow around the figure of Piggy, and swirling stripes of lighter shade.
Trivia
- Upon release, if the player Piggy left the game, the round would end.
- On February 25th, 2020, four days after the Forest chapter was released, this was changed to a bot spawning when the player leaves.
- Player is one of the three gamemodes to be added during Piggy's launch, alongside Bot and Player + Bot.
